Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the Academic positions of Instructors and Lecturers within the Department of Petroleum and Geological Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Guyana to teach in the following areas:
- Mineralogy and Petrology
- Structural and Engineering Geology
- Geophysics
- Economic Geology
- Environmental and Regional Geology
- Geologic Field Mapping
- Petroleum Geology
- Paleontology
- Applied Geochemistry
- Mining (Surface & underground) and Mineral Exploration
- History of the Guyana Shield
Minimum Requirements:
(i) Instructor
A good first degree (Distinction/Credit) in Applied and Exploration Geology / Geoscience / Geophysics / Mining Engineering or a close related field from a recognized University. Prior tutoring experience at a tertiary level will be an asset.
(ii) Lecturer I
At least a master's Degree in Applied and Exploration Geology / Geoscience / Geophysics / Mining Engineering 5 years teaching experience with large classes. Tertiary level teaching and Industry experience will be an asset.
(iii) Lecturer II
At least a Ph.D. in Applied and Exploration Geology / Geoscience / Geophysics / Mining Engineering or a Master’s Degree in any of the aforementioned specialisations plus two research publications.
SALARY SCALES:
- Instructor - UA1: $304,602 – $467,527
- Lecturer I – UA2: $345,209 – $518,309
- Lecturer II – UA3: $426,442 – 619,835
Note: Appointment level and placement in appropriate salary scales are determined by level of qualification, experience and research publications.
